Sign the new petition to ban Super Trawlers for good

Together thousands of Australians helped ban super trawlers for 2 years, but it ends in November!

We need your help in the lead up to the Tasmanian state election to get ALL political parties to commit to protecting our marine environment and fisheries from destructive super trawlers. This will not only result in Tassie waters being protected, but send a strong message to the Federal Government that they too must act to protect our oceans.

Please sign the petition below and volunteer and donate to the Super Trawler campaign.

Dear Sirs and Madams,

We, the undersigned, call on your political parties to commit to banning super trawlers. Super trawlers are large freezer-factory fishing trawlers that threaten our unique marine life, fisheries, and all that relies on them, including protected sea birds, dolphins, seals and tuna, and the recreational fishing, commercial fishing and tourism industries.

The Australian Government has yet to permanently protect our marine environment from super trawlers, but we dont want to take that risk in Tasmania.

Super trawlers are part of a global problem that has led to the devastation of the world's fisheries, marine life and local livlihoods, and we dont want that kind of fishing here. We want fishing activities that don't rely on government subsidies, ensure healthy oceans and healthy communities, sustainable employment for local fishermen, science based fisheries management and no unwanted by-catch.

Signed, Australia
