The sticker idea is a good one. It would bring this very important issue of the super trawler destruction of our marine life
to the public and make it an election issue.

I believe that the damage by the Owners of the super trawlers, (could add the massive Japanese squid fleet), the rape and distruction of the fish along the coasts of some of the poorest countries in the world, for example Somalia and Madagascar, was so bad the communities had to “kill” non-breeding people to keep their tribes alive. The raping of the fish is known to cause the people to move into “survival” mode. I believe the owners of the trawlers know the damage they have caused around five continents of the world. Now the Australian politicians have joined the murderers.

It’s time for our Government to start acting like a government.Govern these things out of our waters, before it’s too late, and then there’ll be nothing left for our rec.Fisho’s and small trawler fleets to catch. Ban Them For Life, I say.

I am personally sick and tired of these greedy multi-national companies taking and not giving in return. Please stop this monstrosity for our future generations to enjoy and not be destroyed for ever.
Catching one of the most majestic species the whale shark crosses the line and these trawlers should not just be banned from Australian waters but banned worldwide!

The majority of Australians want Supertrawlers banned from Australian waters, and probably internationally.
Why is the Minister for the Environment persisiting in approving it.
Clearly he is incompetent or has a vested interest in seeing it opate.
    Either way, he should resign.

Why are we allowing a foreign owned Super Trawler to rape our seas. Foreign owned companies do not have a vested interest in the future of our marine habitats or the sustainability of our fisheries. Any fishing done in Australian waters should be strictly limited to Australian owned and managed boats that have that vested interested.

We need a lot more pressure on local members. I really like the graphic on site with “Gone Fishing – GONE” It would be great if these were made into large stickers (suitable to stick on car windows) and sold to supporters. This could raise funds to highlight this issue, and allow supporters to publicise the issue in their local community. If we cant scuttle and scrap the supertrawler, maybe we can scuttle and scrap some of our local politicians who either support the supertrawler, or do nothing to get rid of it.

How can it be that we are still having to discuss this issue.
Forgive the oxymoron, but a responsible government made up of responsible members and ministers would have had this supertrawler scuttled or scrapped ages ago.

This is the height of political stupidity. Sanctuary zones and size and bag limits for recreational fishers, while overseas supertrawlers rapes and pillages our coastal waterways. Local candidates stand on this issue will determine my vote and that of thousands of recreational fishing families.

They have already plundered the fish off the coast of Africa. Do we really want them to now plunder the fish off the coast of Australia, just because we have fish left? Sustainable fishing is the way to go and the super trawler has been working the south east cost for too long now!

This is not fishing this is just mass slaughter and money grappling at its worst.

Australians need to get behind this project to ban these MONSTER FISHING TRAWLERS. We also need help from our overseas friends because the entire world will suffer from the destruction of marine life if they are allowed to continue. Our politicians always look for the money angle, but if these gigantic trawlers are allowed to continue they will destroy the tiny fish life at the very bottom of the marine food chain and before we know it there will be nothing left in the ocean.
