UPDATE 21/02/2014 : The Tasmanian Labor Party and the Greens now officially support a permanent ban in Australian waters, and Palmer United have indicated that they do too, but we are awaiting official policy release.

In 2012, conservation and fishing groups began working together to stop the world’s second largest super trawler, the FV Margiris, from threatening Australian fisheries and unique marine life.

Over 96,000 people from all walks of life united behind this campaign – you signed petitions, joined rallies, and sent messages to Members of Parliament – and in turn we achieved a two year ban on super trawlers in Australian waters!

That ban ends in November 2014. We need your help to make this ban permanent and create a sustainable fishing future based on healthy oceans, not high risk super trawlers.
